  • Comments Thread For: Vasyl Lomachenko-Nicholas Walters: Post-Fight Report Card

The pre-fight report card posited the question of whether Jamaica's Nicholas Walters might have been a tad overrated after his big featherweight wins over Nonito Donaire and Vic Darchinyan; if maybe those wins had something to do with being a big featherweight against men who started their titled days at flyweight.

Lol - still can't help but have some sympathy for Walters, a real nice guy and he's going to get dumped on over this for a long time (rest of his life ?).

I thought the pre-fight card was a bit off in the first place. Speed analysis had both fighters much faster than average, with Loma out-speeding Walters in most categories.

If you reserve A+ for Gary Russell, Loma would be A and Walters A- (before and after).

Walters A for power was correct, and still is, just because he couldn't use it doesn't mean it wasn't there. If the ratings mean more what was used or expected to be used in the fight, then it would be A before the fight, and D after (so only defensible thing is A/A, or A/D for Walters power).

Never agreed with A- for Loma's defence in the first place. If you agree with Russell being the only A+ speed fighter (and even if you don't, he's still fast), Loma keeping the fastest hands in boxing to a 10% connect rate is automatically A+ in the defence rating.

Sosa hit Walters a LOT, Donaire hit him too, Walter's defence was never over a B.
