Comments Thread For: Sosa Questions Lomachenko's Opposition; Sees Walters As Live Dog

LAS VEGAS Nicholas Walters' last opponent is as interested as anyone in the former featherweight champion's fight against Vasyl Lomachenko. Jason Sosa, who won the WBA world super featherweight title in the fight after his majority draw with Walters 11 months ago, picked Lomachenko to win Saturday night. Sosa still considers Walters a very live underdog in a 130-pound championship fight Lomachenko was listed as a 9-1 favorite to win Friday at The Cosmopolitan sports book.

'...how good is he when they keep throwing him in with lesser fighters, fighters that are not on his level.....'

Not sure how to take that. Many thought he bit of more than he could chew with Salido (he did, too much, too soon). Gary Russell Jr is hardly a pushover for anyone, and Martinez was no slouch based on his battles with Salido, and now Walters.

Walters may indeed clean Loma's clock, but saying Loma has been in there with no-hopers up to now kind of ignores a few things.

If Loma gets past Walters, I guess Sosa wants a piece ? If anything, Sosa would be seen as a stay-warm fight in between Walters and whatever belt holder Loma could get next at 130 (all assuming he gets past Walters of course, who, like Russell and Martinez, are not gimmes).

But lets say Loma does beat Walters, then what is Sosa going to say ? That Walters wasn't at his level either ? Then by default neither are you Mr. Sosa (unless you are going to claim the judges got it right in your fight with Walters.......I hope you aren't saying that...are you ?)

This is funny because Loma has actually be handled the way every top amatuer should be handled, but never how they actually are handled. He was tbrown to the wolves immediately. Most ams these days fight about 15 no hopes then a few fringe top 10 guys before they even take on a real threat. He fought Salido in his second fight. This dude needs to chill.

I actually felt the same way about that comment. And to be honest with you not even with Fortuna that makes sense. Yes, he beat Fortuna cause he landed a good punch but picking him apart is not something I would say he did neither. Anyhow, its all good though.

Sosa sounds ill informed, Lomachenko has like 7 fights and he has fought for a world title in his second fight against Salido lol, Salido is one of the toughest mofos, Salido also missed weight and fought dirty, Loma beat Russell Jr next and knocked out Rocky Martinez, not a bad first 7 fights.

              Walters should whoop him though.

What the f*** is he talking about, "...lesser fighters...". As it turned out they were lesser fighters only because he is exceptional. That's a phenomenal resume after only 7 fights, and now add Walters to that. FFS. It doesn't get more challenging than that. Prior to Walter's last 2 fights I might have given him the edge but inactivity and pitched against an continuously improving superstar ..... think it'll be just too much. Got the makings of a superb scrap.

Sosa sounds jealous rather than I'll informed.
Walters isn't going to whoop him though. Stopping Donaire is his biggest moment, and anyone who thinks lomachenko wouldn't take donaire to school really doesn't give the kid the credit he's due.
