Comments Thread For: Eleider Alvarez on Facing Stevenson, Saw Ward-Kovalev as Draw

The light heavyweight division continues to be one of the most prominent in the entire sport, not least with last Saturday's super fight between Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev which divided opinion across the board. Furthermore, there is still WBC champion Adonis Stevenson and rising puncher Artur Beterbiev at 175lbs, another Russian who defeated Kovalev twice in the amateurs.

A draw would have been a reasonable verdict.

But the titles would stay with Kovalev, and that is not what they wanted. Also you would have to score some round 10-10 because otherwise the KD gives Kovalev the win even if you score 6-6 rounds.

no. kov won 7 rounds clearly so that would not be reasonable. another 3 rounds could have gone either way or been even. ward got the decision. thats terrible. 10-2 kovalev makes more sense than 7-5 ward. we learned once again that punches in boxing just dont matter, its more about the more subtle things that only the experts can truly see.

Do you think you are more of an expert than Eleider Alvarez, Juan Manuel Marquez, Kostya Tszyu, and Paulie Malignaggi?

Stevenson against Alvarez is a good fight. Stevenson is getting on, could be the perfect time to get him.

Seems that the most biased, narrow minded posters here happen to know more than most pro fighters. I guess that's what gives them the confidence to frequently post hateful, negative things (like deciding the fight would be a robbery before it even happened) and never open their mind to any other possibility.

Lol I laugh at the people who still refuse to admit it was s close fight and are anyone who had it another way is biased in some way. Time to just let it go. Both guys will have s chance to make their final statements in the next fight.

Stevenson vs Alvarez will be a very interesting fight and I see Stevenson as the winner. Alvarez is a good contender but I don't think he has what it takes to beat the top dogs of the division. Alvarez was hurt pretty badly against Prieto so Stevenson can definitely ice him with one good shot. The fight is supposed to be on February 24th at the Centre Videotron and I heard Beterbiev could be fighting for the IBF #1 mandatory challenger slot as well.

I love how these ward fans ignore the actually most respected guy's in boxing ( who have not sustained punches to the brain for a living) such as Al bernstein.

But cherrypick boxers like paulie m, who scored 5 out of the first 6 rounds to ward LMAO and you come on a boxing forum telling us all we should respect his opinion ?
