Golden Boy Promotions contender Manuel "Tino" Avila (22-0, 8 KOs) took a massive step in his career in facing former WBO International featherweight title holder Jose Ramirez (27-6-2, 16 KOs) as the main event broadcast live on Estrella TV's Boxeo Estelar. The bout was a grueling one, with the heated exchanges throughout the fight resulting in a cut over Ramirez's eye in the seventh round. In the beginning of the tenth round, the judge deducted a point from Ramirez for holding. At the end of the bout, the judges awarded a split decision victory to Avila with scores of 99-89, 99-89, 93-95.

Avila should be thanking whatever blind judging their was in that fight. Ramirez won an absolute ugly fight.

Avila honestly looked like he didn't want to fight. Looked disinterested, flat footed. Overall just didn't give a damn.

Not sure what Golden Boy doesn't with him next but I think they should advise him to drop back down to 122 and hire a new corner because they seemed lost and befuddled.

Sanchez looks promising. But still gets caught on the ropes way to much. As he gains experience that must change.

The 2 teens that where on the card look like they have solid foundations to grow there skills.
