Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Coach: Money Issues Remain, Not Sure Jacobs is Next

Abel Sanchez, the trainer for IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs), is not convinced that mandatory challenger Daniel Jacobs (32-1, 29KOs) will be their next opponent. The fight was targeted for December 10th in New York City. Because they were unable to reach an agreement in time, the fight was pushed back to the first quarter of 2017.

Let's go to the purse bid already! WBA needs to force the issue. Someone needs to be stripped ASAP!

        This^

Either fight or get stripped. These organizations need to stop coddling fighters.

Jacobs is nuts, his own promoter isn't going to make a purse bid so large (12mil) it gets Jacobs 3 million from 25%.

I could see them making a purse bid hoping GGG can't fight off of HBO, and vacates, but they might lose the bid, in which case Jacobs will be fighting for much less than he could have negotiated for, or they might win and HBO might allow it, in which case Jacobs still isn't paid what he wants.

Keep GGG inactive and hope he does something wrong and WBA strips him, it seems like the main plan.

Both sides want an out of this fight clearly. Jacobs can't afford to rebuild his career at this point again and he isn't going to get $3 million. K2 can't justify paying him $3 million for a fight unless they put it on ppv and I see that ppv doing just about the same as the first ppv..a dud.

Both sides? From what I see its Jacobs team who's asking the WBA to change their rules because they're not happy with the mandated split.

How much does Jacobs actually think he's worth? I wonder what that "magic number" is that would satisfy him so that he takes the fight. Jacobs is asking for more money than many of Floyd's opponents made fighting him. Maidana only made $3mil in each of his fights vs Floyd.

It annoys me that this dude ***s up GGG's time. I'd have liked to see Golovkin fighting 1 more time this year.
