Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker vs. Andy Ruiz Could Head To The United States

The promoter of Joseph Parker's bid for the world boxing title to be held in Auckland on December 10 is not confident he'll be able to organise sponsorship in time. Promoter Dean Lonergan has asked the government to help foot some of the bill for the WBO heavyweight title bout against Mexican slugger Andy Ruiz.

Indeed. Especially if they accompany it with a good card.

the fight will be held in NZ

no way does that fight rely on a tourism grant LMAO

reminder: the other promoter is Bob Arum, this fight would not have even been mentioned for NZ unless Arum was satisfied

Lonergan is scaremongering to pressure the government and to attract sponsors

this is his typical cheap lazy style

                cringe-worthy

Agreed, Lonergan and co getting aggressive pursuing the money grant. Then at the 11th hour will announce some miraculous last minute sponsorship deal has secured the fight in for Auckland. Furthermore he should be hailed as the worlds greatest promoter thanks to his savvy negotiating skills that have singlehandedly saved the day.

Lonergan? This guy sounds like a peach. Promote his fight by putting the bite on the government. He doesn't need the money, but it doesn't hurt to ask? Ruiz better beware, this incipient penury may be contagious.
