Comments Thread For: Ruslan Chagaev Rejects Farewell Fight, Intends To Stay Retired

Ruslan Chagaev (34-3-1, 21KOs) has no intention of coming back to the sport, according to his manager. Back on July 25th, the WBA World Championships Committee issued a resolution to strip him of his WBA 'regular' heavyweight title - for not fulfilling his mandatory commitment within the specified time period.

Yes! Health is more important than everything. He does not need to prove himself so Lucas Browne is not same level with Ruslan Chagaev. Anyway Good luck to Lucas for his next fights...

Good. There is nothing to fight for anymore all these HW's are cheaters and cowards there is only one man that matters in the division......Deontay Wilder any other fight is meaningless...the titles have been fragmented the so called ' Lineal ' champion is a fraud he ****d the history of the sport and made boxing the laughing stock of the world of sports...and the worst part about this is that hes getting a shot after his ban for the WBO. Ruslan knows very well I speak the truth just last year he was cheated by that roided up goon Lucas Brown and he never had the decency to acknowledge his crime! the system/sanctioning bodies have failed Chagaev the WBA couldnt even complete its tournament and failed to suspend/strip Tyson Fury right away...and just like the WBO Im almost certain they will reward this imposter with another chance.

Nothing wrong with staying retired for health reasons. He's had a successful career, became a champion and can leave the sport on his own terms.

Good for him. Won an alphabet belt a few times, probably made some decent money losing to Klitschko and Povetkin. At 38 his health is what's important and the world didn't need to see a rematch with a crap opponent like the 43-year-old Oquendo

He didn't look good with Browne and I suspect this is the main reason for his retirement. He was in there with a few of the best of his era, solid career.
