  • Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto Moves To Reclaim Millions From The IRS

Former four division world champion Miguel Angel Cotto could be making history again, but in court. The only Puerto Rican fighter to become a world champion in four weight divisions could also be the first fighter to take the IRS to court to paying more taxes than he was required to pay - rather than the opposite where IRS goes after boxers and other athletes for non-compliance with their taxes.

Overpaying your taxes and having your accountant be the one who finds the discrepancy doesn't make you a smart businessman. It only makes you luckier than the guy who underpays.

Are you kidding me? Is Cotto an accountant? The fact that he over paid by 2.5 million in a span of 3 years, 8 to 11 years ago, and had the business acumen to higher another accountant to look back at his taxes proves that he is a crude business man. Had his taxes checked twice and is now going to get his money back.

Any reports of the IRS being injured or drained? This could be the only explanation as to why Cotto is taking this fight.

I hope this doesn't backfire and Cotto ends up taking a knee in court! That'd be quite embarrassing.

Did you not comprehend the part about how it was an accountant that brought it to the attention of Cotto??? Business acumen means you do not over pay 2.5 million in the span of 3 years, duh! Cotto didn't spot anything by himself! If the accountant hadn't pointed it out, Cotto would not have known. Even if he had a hunch, and that is a big if, a hunch doesn't equate to business acumen! Get a clue if you have to beg, borrow, or steal one.
