Injury May KO De La Hoya's Sept. Bout

Oscar De La Hoya has revealed that he injured his left shoulder during his breathtaking bashing of Ricardo Mayorga in Las Vegas Saturday night.

But the Golden Boy, who took the WBC 154lbs title after crushing his rival in six one-sided rounds, says he will not have surgery on the torn muscle and doesn't anticipate having to postpone his next - and final - fight.

Five division title holder De La Hoya, 33, will fight again on September 16 - hopefully against pound for pound prince Floyd Mayweather - and then retire from boxing.
