Comments Thread For: Hearn: Cleverly Was On His Way To Stopping Braehmer

Eddie Hearn, who promotes Nathan Cleverly, believes his fighter was well on his way to knocking out Juergen Braehmer on Saturday night. He saw Cleverly slowly chopping the champion down and felt Braehmer was looking to get out of there.

Slappy terrible fight. Get ready for Cleverly to defend against absolute trash cans for the forseeable, a fight versus Beterbiev to take his belt and force a Ward Kovalev mandatory would be all round pleasing.

Really enjoyed this high pace fight cong**** to Cleverly, would love to see a rematch Braehmer was fighting a good fight and it was even when it was stopped.

I'm not sure he would have stopped him. Cleverly is feather fisted and even though he had good workrate and Braehmer might have started to get tired, it's not like Cleverly wasn't getting caught clean constantly.

It's alright trying to win fights on workrate, Calzaghe did it, but the difference is that Calzaghe used to get caught less in a fight than Cleverly does in a round.

Sure thing Eddie. I like Clev but unless Braehmer was gonna gas uncharacteristically I had him on his way to a marginal points victory. A UK rematch might go Clevs way but with Braehmer landing the cleaner crisper shots there was no way Nathan would get a points victory on German soil and no sign at all that he was doing any significant damage to the German.

Oh c'mon Eddie! Clev doesn't turn his body, so no weight in his punches. Just slapping... Can't believe he's never fixed that in the gym...

Braehmer was hardly setting the world alight with his reign either.
