On Tuesday, Luis Espada - father, trainer and manager of IBF super featherweight champion Jose Pedraza (22-0, 12KOs) - made numerous statements in an article which appeared on BoxingScene.com, where he complained about his son's career and took a few digs at his promoters.

A great example of how it is usually the managers and not the promoters that put the spanners in the works in making good fights.

DiBella and Shaw laid into Pedraza's father, Damn. Scorched earth. They're definitely strongly hinting at him to fire his father if he wants a future in the sport, and they are correct. Dude is going to sit on the shelf and end up getting derailed but a nobody in a small money fight if he keeps sitting.

My guess is likely a situation not all that different from what Chris Algieri was being faced with a short while ago; Javier Bustillo (the smallest name in the picture to me) had the original contract with Pedraza, Gary Shaw got involved along the way, with Lou DiBella joining on to finally get Pedraza over the finish and into stardom [Algieri is signed with Star Boxing, who had to give up a few options to Banner Promotions to get the Provodnikov fight, who then subsequently had to give an option to Top Rank for the Pacquiao fight].

Pedraza's father is trainer/manager (and I doubt that he's gouging his son for two checks), so the circle is basically Pedraza'a father leading things for him, DiBella/Shaw looking to negotiate the fights, and Haymon being around to get Pedraza/Pedraza to hopefully follow the most sensible path but leaving them with the final decision.

Gamboa would've beat the **** outta Pedraza, his father knew what he was doing.

Not just HIM allegedly it is a lot of guys who are Divas in boxing who are kinda Cherry Picking and playing things very "SAFE" then they want to get disgruntled and complain when they're left on the shelf because the Cherry Picking Tree is bare lol

Clearly he wants out and maybe he feels like the grass is greener with another Promotion, I personally don't think so for Pedraza given his style. I doubt HBO would show him on their Network because he is a skilled boxer and not a Knockout Artist. All he can do is make the best of his situation, why does he have both Dibella and Shaw as his Promoter is beyond men
