And once again, September 2017. That's one year away from now. People acting like there is some deadline when Golden Boy/Canelo are talking about a potential fight literally a year away and on top of that Canelo injured his hand. No one is going anywhere.
Hopefully Golovkin v Jacobs happens next, then after that they can work out a deal. Canelo almost certainly isn't going to fight again until May of 2017 against someone at 160, then hopefully they can fight each other. Nothing is going to get worked out till next year anyway.
Kovalev-Ward was agreed to with significant lead time, so not sure what the issue is.
The closer things get to the date, the more contentious the negotiations are likely to get (especially if Golovkin lays out another commercial flop along the way).
This was true when Cotto faced him(900k), but that statement is becoming less and less true. Canelo has no moves to make here. There is no one at 154 and he can't make that weight, he got no one of value at 160 (except for Lemieux who I like).
The man is getting less and less buys and the opponents are getting worse. He'll have one belt at most if he fights Saunders and the cinnamon cunt can't move up to 168 because... well he just can't.
And all of Canelo's fights since the Lara fight have been mismatches.
His options are to go up to middleweight and be in GGG's shadow because we all know GGG is the best middleweight or to fight him for the belts and prove he will take on challenges.
Kirkland, Cotto, Khan and Smith are awful mismatches.
Cotto a mismatch at 155? That's laughable. Right now there is no evidence that the ppv and live gate gap between Alvarez and Trip is shrinking. Even with the recent fight in London, the numbers can't be attributed solely to Trip because he was fighting a popular UK fighter. Also, Alvarez is 26, he can stall the fight for 2 years if he wants fighting the same middleweights Trip has beaten as he acclimates to 160. Hardcore Golovkin fans won't like it, but he has the fan base to build the fight for a longer period. Lastly, Alvarez has proven he will take challenges (Mayweather, Lara, Trout, Cotto). A challenge isn't just about a name, it's about a fighting style as well. You wouldn't understand that as a hardcore Golovkin fan.
Same fans who were okay with "maybe 2017" are now against "sign a contract for 2017". That's what makes you a fan boys, when your opinion changes to suit your favorite fighter.
Not the same at all. Pacquiao and Mayweather were close in draw, both were selling 1+ mil PPVs. Here we have a PPV fighter and a regular HBO fighter that flopped on PPV.
Whats worse is if GGG was rocked or struggled significantly in those fights, they would be considered "earned". But we don't respect domination, we question it.
???? How was I wrong? And someone ASKED how GGG got his belts. I never did he didn't deserve them or anything of the sort! I also never questioned it! Just like I know GGG is the best fighter at 160. I've said that time and time again.
Expect GBP to dangle millions infront of Saunders if Canelo gets that strap then he has more bargaining power over Triple G
That's what there trying to do andbwhy they Orginally wanted him on the PPV under card with the winner getting Canelo next. He REALLY needs that belt. The belts all have in their contracts how $$$$ is suppose to be split. If not he'll have to write to what ever belt and get permission on him getting the bigger split I believe?
Are you really trying to run with that? We could say that about any fight, Monroe should have got 50% vs Golovkin because he's half the interest.
Canelo is the bigger draw, he's the PPV fighter, he's the one that sells 50K tickets at double the price of Golovkin fights. $10+ mil is 5x the usual $2mil purse Golovkin gets paid for HBO. Canelo took $5 mil for a the 2nd biggest fight in history. 10+ mil is a fucking fantastic deal for a non-ppv fighter.
I believe $10,000,000 is pretty close to what he made TOTAL for all his fights COMBINED. He just started making $1,000,000 around Lemuix, then bumped to $2,000,000 and Brook was his 1st $3,000,000.
And all his opponents that K2 paid (Brook paid him) is easily <$5,000,000 Total

Being asked to sign a contract agreeing terms for a fight a year down the line is bullshit.
Ward pulled that trick as a PR stunt with GGG and now Oscar is using it again because he knows the average US boxing fan has the IQ of a gnat.
"GGG turned down $10 million plus PPV upside doe ..." Gullible idiots!
