Comments Thread For: AIBA Reveals Further Shakeup After Controversy in Olympics

Further to the decision taken yesterday by AIBA with regard to the reassessment of the judges and referees officiating during Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the AIBA Vice Presidents and Executive Board members have decided to reassign immediately the current AIBA Executive Director to a new role within the organization. Consequently, the operational responsibilities for the remainder of the Olympic Boxing Competition will now fall under the responsibilities of the most senior Vice President of the AIBA Executive Board, Mr Franco Falcinelli, President of the European Boxing Confederation.

When the other guy is a bloody mess and he wins the fight! Or a guy get warned multiple times for inactivity and throws less than 1/3 of the punches and wins the round??? You know someone is getting $$$$ and it's NOT the boxers.

I've seen some shady decisions nothing too blatant, but I haven't followed all the fights.

Levitt and Conlon both were robbed against Russians. They don't get their Olympic dream and the years of training back do they? **** the AIBA.

that the names of the referees and judges who were dismissed, and the matches that were tainted, would not be released because he did not want to “besmirch their families.”
F#ck you AIBA. I feel like I've been more than fair to AIBA. Certainly more than most, but wtf man you can't alter decisions that were so bad you've suspended guys for the rest of this event & you can't even tell us who those bad officials were.

Anyone who's been suspended for giving a bad scorecard at the Olympics needs to be suspended til after the next Olympics cuz you've f#cked over a kid trying to accomplish something that he can be proud of for his own family & friends til at least the next event 4 years ago, if not for good. F#ck making the families of bad officials feel better about themselves, how about letting these boxers putting everything into something on a grand scale, deserving to win & yet getting robbed of their historic moment in their lives feel good along with their familes about what they should've gotten.

This 'shakeup' has come too late for the boxers that were robbed. I recall that Holyfield, Roy Jones jr and Mayweather were all robbed in the Olympics. Match-fixing clearly taking place even in amateur boxing.

In this case the American has actually been the luckiest fighter in all of the Olympics.

Almost as if there making up for screwing those guys over and making it super easy the American to get to the finals

                    I little from both sides.
Nico draw was tough and still the judges give him the win when deserved.
Antonio Vargas draw was tough and was fairly eliminated.
Shakur draw was really good and was never in danger of losing fights he clearly won.
Balderas draw was tough and lost a close fight.
Gary Russell draw was really good for him and still struggled a lot, but lost a fight that you can make an argument that he won.
