its not their fault their opponents and opposing trainers cant adapt to what they are doing

should they change their style, to entertain you? you may want them to or to make their fights more competitive, but they wont

its about winning and in a fighters mind, entertaining you is secondary, to winning and providing for their families

Its one of the weakest criticisms ever

I find it funny because all these fighters I've seen being dubbed as boring, are dominant, undefeated fighters who make it look easy

it was floyd mayweather and Wlad Klitchsko before, now Andre Ward, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Terrance Crawford, and Lara(the only one with losses)

the people who use this term, do you think its also the opponents, and the opposing trainers responsibility to adapt, instead of make excuses?
Not necessarily. I mean, yeah I get your point - I don't find Floyd, Rigo, Ward etc boring at all, in fact I admire their craft greatly even though I also enjoy the more visceral pleasure of watching fighters who go looking for the finish, but there are some guys who are simply boring. Slava 'Tsar' Glazkov is a good example. Man - there's a guy who brings banality to a whole new level.

That didn't happen. Instead of manning up and just admitting that Pac didn't have what it takes to crack the Mayvinci code, you dudes blamed Mayweather for not handicapping himself and fighting down to the level of an inferior fighter.
That's fine that it was known - I'm just saying that spreading the blame when one fighter is known to have a boring style is a cop out.

And please don't lump me in with the 'you dudes'. I've admitted fault multiple times on other issues, and I wasn't here during May/Pac bull****. Not even to mention that I like Floyd [and respect] Floyd more than Pac.

The blame falls on the buyer. It's like ****ing a chick that you knew had an STD then blaming her because she gave you an STD.

Blame the ref for the excessive clinching. But don't act as if it wouldn't make a huge difference if he enforces the rule.

I don't want to see fighters retaliate by rabbit punching, but if that's the only way to get the ref's attention, then why not?

            Like GGG being so dominant.

I'm a Lara fan, and a big Rigo and Wlad fan. I can see why people will call them boring though..they've been in their fair share of sinkers. I fully get that.

It's all about the winning for me at the end of the day, i understand that from a fighters point of view, you do what it takes to win. But it's an entertainment business as well. You want to spike interest, for the most part, you will have to entertain.

Then there are guys like Carlos Molina and Ishe Smith..who are flat out hard to watch a lot of the time.

Guys like Crawford, i don't think they are boring in the slightest.

Im a fan of style and craft and I love to see a good ole brawl too. But theres 1 thing that I think a lot of fans and even some so called experts dont realize, boxing is about Ring GENERALship (first and foremost). Im a military guy so when I think of General I think of Commander and strategist. So with that said, the things that certain posters call boring like clinching, excessive lateral movement etc I can agree with them 'IF" its with no purpose or to avoid a fight. Honestly that fighter in my eyes should lose the round and or be penalized depending the circumstances of course.

Im glad you brought up Lara because it actually fits exactly what I am talking about, I cant stand Canelo or Lara but this fight showed a great back and forth of Ring Generalship. Lara used A LOT of lateral movement BUT there were times in the fight where it was used very effectively and there were lots of times where it was used to avoid a fight. In the rounds where Lara moved to avoid the fight he gave those rds up, in the rounds where he used lateral movement to set-up offense, well then he became the general.

So again I can understand certain posters disdain for certain styles when you have a guy that AVOIDS a fight to victory because thats not how boxing should be scored by definition. Simply moving and clinching with no sort of offense playing off of it can be a real stinker. Moving to set up offense like Keith Thurman does, well thats boxing. Lara excessively moving is a great display of cardio but thats about it, if fight fans want to see running then they would be College Cross Country fans.

It's on the opponent to do something about it, don't blame the guy because his opponent isn't good enough to do anything about it.

People are allowed to have their opinions, we all enjoy and dislike different styles.... people should not get caught up in their feelings if someone labels their favourite fighter boring.

I like Ward and more often than not enjoy his fights especially when he's up against the best but as a fan I can still admit sometimes he's not entertaining to me, the Allan Green fight is one of the worst I've watched. I also don't find KO punchers bowling over overmatched opponents very entertaining either, basically for me there needs to be a competitive edge to the contest on paper for me to be entertained.

Technical fighters are fun to watch against the very best but when they are in against overmatched opponents then it's difficult to enjoy because you're not impressed by them simply outboxing the guy.

If Ward somehow does to Kov what he did to Brand then it will be highly entertaining for me because he's putting on a technical display against one of the best but that same display against a journeyman will be far less entertaining to me.
