Comments Thread For: Team USA: Two More to the Quarters

Much has been made of the struggles of the US boxing team at recent Olympics. There was the failure to medal in 2012, already surpassed at these games by light flyweight Nico Hernandez. Prior to that, only one fighter medaled in 2008 and two in 2004 (with Andre Ward winning gold).

    Tough weight class for Stevenson.

Conlan (World Am gold medallist) and Robeisy Ramirez (2012 Olympic champion) have looked good, and both are experienced world level amatuers.

Cant wait to see some matchups between these 3

Robiesy is a beast the kid is as skilled as I've ever seen in the Olympics.

If he wins another gold he'll be up there with Rigo and Loma as far as amateur accomplishments go and yet only 22 yrs old.

Yeah i mean we are talking about Stevensons skills in comparison to his age, but Ramirez came through as an 18 year old and breazed through the Olympics and won gold comfortably.

I'll take proven ability over eye test for now.

          Exactly.

Stevenson is good but Ramirez is scary good the kid is smooth.

ramirez looked better in london at flyweight than in rio at bantamweight so far

                You think so?

Its possible but i hope you're wrong I like Ramirez style the kid is smooth with his skills and i would like to see him add to his Olympic legacy.

Does anyone know when Ramirez and Stevenson are scheduled for action again?
