RIO DE JANEIRO - After a 12-year professional boxing career, Hassan N'Dam dreamed of returning to the Olympics and winning the gold medal that eluded him in Athens. Instead, N'Dam is headed home with a bitter lesson in the amateur version of his sport. N'Dam was ousted in his opening bout in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night, losing a unanimous decision to Brazil's Michel Borges.

This is what some of us were saying with pros in the Olympics. The amateur pace & pro pace are too entirely different paces & pros going into a amateur fight need to go counter to what they've been doing for years & start quick. Although I didn't see the fight so idk if this was purely or primarily a pace issue or not just going off of what he's saying & the fact I felt that was going to be a problem.

lol what would this have to do with Golovkin? That guy didn't show up to two different purse bids two separate times when ordered to fight Golovkin and we know why (he isn't that good + very chinny).

Anyways, this reinforces my belief that pros in the Olympics doesn't automatically mean they'll be successful. Even though its more pro style now, it's still three rounds which means faster pace and tournament style. Pro fighters aren't used to this. I argued because of that alone we won't see too many pro fighters enter and the ones that do will end up having a much harder time then they probably anticipated (Ndam is a good example of this).

Hard to feel bad for a pro that goes back to the amateurs.
