Comments Thread For: SHO's Espinoza: Santa Cruz-Frampton Part of Unofficial Tourney

Showtime Sports executive Stephen Espinoza is excited about Saturday night's featherweight title fight between Leo Santa Cruz and Carl Frampton, not only for what the bout itself could be on fight night, but also because of how it plays into the bigger picture.

No such thing as an unofficial tournament.

Russell Jr. vs. Selby just makes sense! Can't wait for Jeramall Charlo vs. Julian "J-Rock" Williams! Garcia vs. Berto...NOT COOL!

Pretty sure Russell vs Selby is already in the works. Probably why they are at the fight tonight.
Put that in the Garcia-Berto card.

We have a better chance of seeing mike Tyson getting his cheeks taken in live t.v. than we do seeing top haymon fighters in a round robbim

I still can't figure out why these two haven't gotten more flack over blatantly ducking Rigondeaux. Frampton did the exact same thing Canelo did. He vacated his belt to avoid his mandatory.

Mares isn't that good. His star was boosted when Russell Mora allowed him to cheat with 40 something low blows against Joseph Agbeko. Even penalizing Agbeko for being dropped with a low blow. Had that fight been properly officiated, we wouldn't even be talking about Mares right now. Hell, we shouldn't be talking about him after he was destroyed by old man Gonzalez.

I don't understand why Espinoza acts like this is the first year of PBC, and the first year Al Haymon fighters have been on Showtime?

He acts like the reason most the fights still suck is because this has been a set up year. Well then what the **** was last year? And why does he mention 147 as something they've been setting up this year when Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman have been fighting for Showtime for 3-4 years?

They always seem to have a new reason for not making the fights fans want to see in the present. Just make the damn fights! Some of them have already been set up for over five years, like Santa Cruz-Rigondeaux. Just make the damn fights!

Not the same Carl moved up in weight for big fights. Canelo vacated to to fight Liam smith a fighter with no notable wins and no profile

Frampton moved up in weight and is in a bigger fight with Leo then if he fought Rigo and just like he article says Haymon/PBc will be putting their 126 guys against each other. So the fights are only going to get bigger and better

Win or lose Frampton probably fights Selby next that 3 big fights in a row,
