  • Comments Thread For: Santa Cruz Expects Carl Frampton To Out-Weigh Him In Ring

Leo Santa Cruz stands 2 inches taller than Carl Frampton and owns a seven-inch reach advantage over him. But now that they've met the 126-pound limit for their featherweight title fight Saturday night, Santa Cruz expects Frampton to add more weight than him and enter the ring the heavier fighter. Northern Ireland's Frampton (22-0, 14 KOs) will make his debut as a full-fledged featherweight when he challenges Santa Cruz (32-0, 18 KOs), but the 5-feet-5 former IBF/WBA super bantamweight champion has acknowledged his significant struggles in recent years to meet the 122-pound limit.

If Carl can pull this off he will be fighter of the year no one will have a better wins than Quigg and Leo Santa Cruz albeit it'd have been more impressive if he tried to fight Rigo.

I don't think the weight is the issue the reach might be If Frampton can't figure him out quickly but we will see.

Close fight not sure who's going to come out the winner.

The win over Quigg was a massive one, however he could of lost that handily if Quiggs team had their tactics right. Which is basically the sole reason as to why im not sure who wins this.

Think it's a bit of a stretch to say Quigg could have won handily if he had gotten his tactics right. What would those tactics have been exactly? And who's to say Frampton couldn't have adjusted? He has a few gears.

In the first half of that fight, Carl outboxed Quigg comfortably. Quigg was poor and flat-footed, but he only really fights one way and has one gear. He could have been more proactive and opened up more, but in doing so could have left more openings and emptied his tank. Quigg isn't the kind of guy who fights hard for 3 mins of every round. He's fit but he doesn't have that kind of engine.

When Scott got into the fight later on, it was largely due to Frampton coming off the gas, and Frampton ****** back with him and finished out the fight well, though Quigg won a few late rounds. To suggest Quigg simply didn't get his tactics right is wrong. He was just outsped and outboxed by Frampton early, and he didn't want to chance it by upping the pace because he likely knew he'd leave openings. That's how I saw it anyway.

Tough, tough fight for Leo. He might have to dig deep for this one and that still might not be enough.
