Comments Thread For: Pacquiao's Ex-Trainer Warns Him To Stay Away From Crawford

American trainer Rick Staheli who handled Manny Pacquiao when he won his first world title the World Boxing Council flyweight crown with a spectacular 8th round knockout of Thai hero Chatchai Sasakul in December 1998 - has warned the Filipino superstar to "stay away from (Terrence) Crawford" who last weekend dominated Viktor Postol to win a twelve round unanimous decision after dropping Postol, who is trained by Freddie Roach, twice in the 5th round.

Pacquiao needs to stay away from whoever has defense other than just covering up and whoever counter-punches.

If Pacquiao is fighting multiple times after coming out of retirement, Vargas is the pick. Crawford is a better fight but it is a likely loss. The combination of movement, counters, younger legs, and internal desire to prove to folks he belongs at the top will prove too much. It's not like there isn't a blueprint out there to beating Pacquiao.

My bet is Vargas and then Garcia.

Bob will squeeze the juice out of the Pacman until he will be beaten badly by a young gun....for now since he still can produce on PPV they will continue to milk him...

It will be like Hearns v Duran, I like Pacquiao v Garcia, fighting Vargas makes no sense.

I still find it difficult 2 believe Pac will fight Bud, 2 me that's almost a certain loss...I thought he would opt for the easier fight vs Garcia..

No way in hell a cash machine like Pac gets put in with Crawford. No way. Not unless Crawford brings Mayweather type money.
Vargas makes for a goodish fight but he doesn't have much name recognition.
Garcia makes for a much better fight and is very beatable imo. He struggles with movement as he can't close off the ring well - somewhat he can but it's not one of his strong points. Garcias only chance is a ko, which he is very capable of, but he's not winning a decision unless he gets 2/3 knockdowns.
