  • Comments Thread For: Vasquez Targets Danny Garcia; Doesn't See Same Power At 147

Sammy Vasquez realizes he has a difficult fight in front of him Saturday night. Fellow southpaw Felix Diaz replaced an injured Luis Collazo on two weeks' notice and the 2008 Olympic gold medalist from the Dominican Republic could provide the stiffest test of Vasquez's career in a 10-round fight FOX will televise from Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. The undefeated welterweight from suburban Pittsburgh hopes, however, that defeating Diaz (17-1, 8 KOs) will lead to a shot at unbeaten WBC welterweight champ Danny Garcia.

Ive seen this as a potential fight for a while now, its about time they get in the ring. The thing that shocked me reading the article is how garcia hasnt fought since january. I almost take it for granted how much time the guy takes between fights.

Although Garcia smashed Amir Khan to pieces I don't think his power was that good at LW I think it was more to do with Khans proven fragile jaw and maybe Garcia will be even more ordinary at welter ...it seems everyone see's him as the weakest champ....Probably is .

Vazquez deserves all the best, he is a Marine veteran and i wish him all the best, but i can't see him beating Garcia

Hmmm...good point. It does seems his power has not followed him to the Welter wgt division. The only thing garcia has going for him is experience & that championship mettle. I agree, I don't see the power...

Sammy is a very good talent, he proves that by beating Diaz this weekend, who's an Olympic gold medalist and should have a W over Peterson as a pro.

I'd pick Sammy to beat Garcia right now.

yeah i agree, dont think hes a power puncher, didnt have much affect on peterson. Dont need to be the second coming of mike tyson to put a dent in khans chin, is one of the worst ive seen in my lifetime. fan of his but when i look at his fights then compare the quality in the thurman v porter fight, im not sure i can see him beating either.

If Garcia isn't willing to face any of the other WW champions, why not.
