Comments Thread For: Povetkin Regrets Hiring Teddy Atlas, Expects Legal Win Over Wilder

A few years ago, Russian heavyweight contender Alexander Povetkin (30-1, 22 KOs) retained the services of veteran trainer Teddy Atlas. The two worked with each other for a short time and parted ways prior to Povetkin's defense of the WBA 'regular' title against Marco Huck in early 2012. There was a lot of internal controversy during that period, after Atlas persuaded Povetkin to withdraw from a scheduled fight with unified champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2010. That fight finally took place in 2013.

I never saw the reasoning for Povetkin to use an American trainer when he fights exclusively in Germany and Russia

Haha I know you're a troll account but Povetkin didn't look good at all with Atlas, he regressed as a fighter with him.

Most everyone ends up on bad terms with Teddy and regrets working with him. He's good for the first fireman motivational speeches but it soon wears thin.

              Not these days.

Most of the best fighters in America are NOT even American, they came from other countries and most of them can't even speak proper English.

Joe Gallagher, Ullie Wegner, Alexander Zimin are just as good if not better than most of the American trainers.

The deal was when no ESPN schedule known far in advance teddy would train in Russia. When a ESPN schedule known far in advance povetkin would train here. Not that he didn't know one week until another he is lying facts are spoken by povetkin about this Pryor to this nonsense.

Where do you think he would get better sparring USA or Russia more variety of styles. Where would he get tougher training here or his moms house. Why Russia so he could call the shots when he would train and most of all he could take his ped's.

He is trimmer now more muscular quick. ped's. Teddy training him on peds would have a monster not the punching bag who teddy said he wasn't ready for vlad. Everyone who fights there is on peds and if you beat them they make your tests positive.
