Comments Thread For: "Fighting Words" - Boxers and Declarations of Independence

by David P. Greisman - It's one thing to declare independence. But as with so much in life, words often must be backed up with actions. This day in the United States celebrates the day, 240 years ago, when representatives from 13 colonies made clear their desire to be free from Great Britain...

They need to pass a law to protect the fighters better. Bob Arum is NOTORIOUS for adding extensions when a boxer is almost done with their contract. And if you don't sign he'll just put you on the shelf until you do.

most boxers 99% of dimwits and bottom barrell empty heads

Truth be told boxers are uneducated morons with little education or common sense who are manipulated BY GREEDY SEEDY SCUM PROMOTERS and crooked managers. Sad to see these clueless empty headed kids be treated like ****** on a plantation made to work for others who take their checks. There are few smart boxers with intelligence. Most are from broken homes with little guidance or common sense or values.

Like the article said not everyone is Mayweather. I'd venture to rephrase not everyone is Mayweather with all the controversies of ducking that followed him when he left Arum. Even though he's not an exciting Tyson-type fighter, the massive curiosity he unintentionally propagated worked for him. His trash talking, fighting once a year, his wife beating made notorious, tax issues, you name it. People want to see him lose.

You can only blame Arum at a point. Question is what happens when they leave? Rigo, Gamboa, Chaves went from bad to worse. Mikey was already averaging $700K per fight when he left Arum fighting not so famous opposition.

I have no doubt Mikey will make more against guys like LSC, Frampton, don't know about Mares but he seems getting inactive nowadays. Question is how much more? Such names, even though riskier, are not even as big as say Thurman, Garcia, Broner... which judging from the Thurman/Porter, purses went down for Thurman. Porter's stayed as is in relation to his last fight with Broner. Thurman/Porter, a fight that was riskier for both compared to their previous fights.

Your a idiot. Juan "baby bull" Diaz went to law school, both Klitschkos have PHDs and there are many other boxers with degrees or went to college. The ones who are uneducated have no one to blame. Anyone can get a education today even illegal aliens so in 2016 there should be no reason for anyone to at least gave some college. You can be on welfare and still get student loans or free grants for school. So stop.with this oh the poor boxers bull****. Alot of them will make more money than you or I will in 10 lifetimes so stop with that slave mentality BS!!

Listen son, and learn something new. Boxers are life's throwaway kids the bottom of the barrel trash from life's gutters. Few boxers ARE FROM GOOD STOCK OR HAVE BEEN BRED FROM GOOD FAMILIES. Almost every fighter is poorly educated from ******s and low housing projects. Most of America ignores boxing anyway as boxing is the 9th rated American sport. Boxers are like the poor kids who die in most wars the disposable kids that do not matter. Get a grip son and learn from the Bearcat.
