  • Comments Thread For: Sammy Vasquez To Face Felix Diaz, Collazo is Out With Injury

A source informed BoxingScene.com on Friday morning that Luis Collazo has withdrawn from his nationally televised July 16 fight against Sammy Vasquez due to a calf injury. Vasquez has agreed to face Felix Diaz now that Collazo (36-7, 19 KOs), a former WBA welterweight champion, is unavailable for that 10-round welterweight bout in Birmingham, Alabama. The Vasquez-Diaz bout will be broadcast by FOX as the co-feature before Deontay Wilder (36-0, 35 KOs) makes an optional defense of his WBC heavyweight title against Chris Arreola (36-4-1, 31 KOs, 2 NC) at Legacy Arena.

Great fight, Diaz is better than Collazo at this stage and I thought he beat Peterson. He's an Olympic gold medalist and a great test for Sammy.

Oh damn. I like this fight better. And Diaz was training for a fight so he's good to go.

And I also thought Diaz beat Peterson.

This will be a nice test for Vasquez. I won't even be able to think badly of him at all if he drops this one although I'm sure the low IQ brigade will deem him a bum if he does.

Whats confusing? That was a keep busy fight, this is a for real fight. Keep busy fight is canceled.

Its a great sign for Diaz coming in in good shape too since he was training for that fight which I love for the competitiveness of this new fight.
