Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez vs. Liam Smith is NOT a Bad Fight, Explains Hearn

There was a lot of negativity when it was recently announced that Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33 KOs) was dropping back to 154-pounds to challenge undefeated Liam 'Beefy' Smith (23-0-1, 13 KOs) for the WBO junior middleweight world championship on Saturday, September 17.

That isn't what Hearn explained at all is it?

    "I've seen how badly it's gone down in America. I don't think it's that bad a fight. . ."

That's very different from saying that it's NOT a bad fight.

"most experts in the UK are not ruling out the possibility of an upset" . . . Mmm, really?

Let's just stop, utilise the back button, and step away from the article.

Hearn is right, it's not a bad fight.
        It's a terrible fight.

How? All people did was bit(h that Canelo needed to Fight GGG or drop the belt. He dropped the the belt, so stfu. Yes he bit(hed out, how does that effect this fight?

Liam Smith is a talented and exciting Champion. I bet he'd beat the Charlos.

He picked the worst champion in the division to fight and the least known in america.

When andrade was the wbo champion, canelo wasn't interested in that belt

Please this is Canelo pulling a Floyd fighting a Berto or Guerrero instead of a Thurman or prime manny. Canelo vs smith? Who ? Of all the middles smith please. We cannot support this force them to give us Thurman porter pistol Crawford

If he is going to campaign at 154 this is a smart move. It's not the best fight due to Smiths lack of true KO power, but it gives Alvarez a belt and gives a Lara or Charlo showdown a bit more weight.

Fighting for the WBO 154 belt, is not a bad fight, but fighting Liam Smith is not a good fight. Fighting Andrade would be a good fight! Fighting GGG would be a great fight!
