  • Comments Thread For: Porter: Diaz One of Best I Fought; Thurman Fought A 'Done' Diaz

NEW YORK Keith Thurman thinks the differences in their performances against Julio Diaz are indicative of the advantages he owns over Shawn Porter. Thurman stopped a faded Diaz after two rounds two years ago in Carson, California. Porter soundly defeated Diaz in their rematch in September 2013, but only after they fought to a 10-round draw in their first fight 3 years ago.

Nah I don't agree with Shawn on this, Diaz was the same fighter, only difference is Keith has a better deal to cope with Diaz. Diaz a very solid counter puncher and inside fighter, he's the one guy I've seen so far who Porter couldn't hang with in the pocket. He got the better of Shawn inside and Shawn had to use his feet to win the fight clearly the second time, although I thought he won the first as well. Porter likes to fight coming forward, that suits Diaz, Thurman likes to fight on the backfoot, that doesn't suit Diaz.

Yeah this and Diaz fights out of Southern Ca, Im sure hes fought and sparred many Mexicans with swarming styles so Porter showed him nothing he wasnt used to. Thurman brought a different style and Diaz was on his last leg too, that first fight was Porter was his last hoo-rah

There honestly wasn't that big of a difference from when Shawn first fought Diaz to when Thurman fought Diaz.

And Shawn is a little off on this timeline. After his draw with Porter,Diaz lost to Amir in another close fight and than lost to Porter in the rematch. So if he was done for Thurman that would mean he was just as done for Porter.

They fought the same version of but Thurman is just a more precise puncher and better finisher which will be the difference in their match up this weekend.

Thurman has been stretching from the beginning of the buildup to this fight. And he won't shut up. I have a feeling we'll see the finishing result of what Collazo first exposed.

You both fought a shot/faded Diaz. Not the prime early 2000 version of him.
