Comments Thread For: Thurman-Porter: Sugar Ray Leonard, Hearns Break it Down

NEW YORK - Sugar Ray Leonard and Thomas "Hitman'' Hearns might be uniquely qualified to talk about what WBA welterweight champion Keith "One Time'' Thurman and "Showtime'' Shawn Porter are thinking and feeling heading into their battle that pits two men against each other who are in their primes in a highly charged battle for supremacy in the talent-laden welterweight division.

Not likely. I don't see Thurman standing right in front of him

Interesting break down by both hearns and leonard, their both remarking on how their fights against each other were their toughest and how this fight between porter/thurman as being seen as the current best guys in their division will be their toughest fights against one another..

winner should face brook and unify the belts for 147 pounds.

if thurman can keep porter off of him then he can win this fight. if he starts retreating then its going to be a long fight night for him.

Tommy and Ray are being generous with their comments. How can you even compare Leonard/Hearns and Porter/Thurman (I mean in my sake-drunken state it took me a few seconds to remember the latter pair of names).

Leonard and Hearns were most def THE ESTABLISHED best WWs at the time; and both were fully deserving of a PPV platform.

Back then, Porter/Thurman would be a Saturday afternoon fight on ABC.
