In Wilders defense retirement is part of the sport and we move on ; should we just retire the WBC HW title? obviously not also Wlad would of never fought his Brother Vitali to 'unify' but we knew Vitali was the man not Wlad despite holding most of the belts : but in Joshuas case Fury was stripped and he got the luck of the draw.

It needs to be a damn Tournament when someone retires instead of just letting guys fight whoever for it. I guarantee most don't know who Stivernie beat to win that Title after Vitali Retire without looking it up on boxrec lol

The reality is that's a very rare in boxing - I cant remember a significant tournament lately that has crowned a elite champion...it would be great if boxing were to be ran like a fantasy league my friend.

I have the fights. He got the WBC high ranking by fighting on a Don King undercard. He beat fellow king stablemate kertson manswell who was 20-0 at the time. He picked up 3 trinkets then beat Austin & Arreola in eliminators. He was losing to Austin until he landed a big punch that pretty much ended the fight. i can't recall if Austin was DQ'd or not but something happened at the end. I thought Arreola would crush Stiverne but i couldn't have been more wrong. I even called arreola to get revenge but he got KTFO...

That is the point, Stiverne and Arreola fought for Vitali Vacant Belt, LET THAT SINK IN! lol

Nobody is blaming Wilder for anything but I'm not going to accept excuse for him, yeah OK Povetkin ruined the fight but what about the other 3 Average fighters he fought before Povetkin? Not only that but why does he have to wait for the WBC to order a tough challenge for him before stepping up his level of competition. So fights get canceled he goes back to fighting weak competition? Just Saying!

And that is exactly why boxing is on a steady decline especially here in the US and has falling behind sports like GOLF in the US because in boxing Belts are kinda just purchased and Rankings Positions are Bought. Nobody earn anything it is just a guy shows up out of no where and starts to get hyped up because he score a few KO's this is how stars are created in this HDAD ERA of Boxing Fans!

LOL at Ray Austin, that dude is like 60. LOL at Manswell yeah he was undefeated because he did not fight anybody, look at his record now since losing to Steiverne the man is 4-12 in his last 16 fights

Bottom Line, Fury has every right to consider the rest Paper Champions because they did not earn their titles like he did. Not saying Joshua and Wilder are not good and can't beat Fury but he has a Point and a right to feel that way

Manswell had a flashy record but most knew he fought nobody but Stiverne was in the same boat. It was a fight of prospects to see who moved on. King secured multiple vacant regional belts for the winner. The winner was moving into the top 15 in a couple organizations. Winning those regional belts are the fastest way up the rankings. Alex leapai is a perfect example. He beat a couple asian pacific duds to win the WBO oriental & asian pacific belts. Those belts gave him the #10 spot in the WBO. Those belts put him in an eliminator with Denis Boytsov who was #1. He pulled the upset & walked out of his title shot with 1.8 million euros against Wlad. Winning those regional belts are important. I didn't have Alex Leapai in the top 50.

That is why I say a Tournament should be Mandatory for a Retired Fighters Belt instead of it be put up for the guy rated #1 and #2 on the Belt Organization Ratings. Clearly if the Promoter has the money he can BUY his fighter a good spot on these Belt Organization Ratings
