  • Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker Beats Carlos Takam: CompuBox Punch Stats

Joseph Parker's opponent in this IBF heavyweight title eliminator, the 35-year-old Carlos Takam, represented a big step up in competition as well as in scheduled distance. Thanks in part to Takam's inability to maintain a consistent pace, especially in rounds 10 and 11 after Takam closed the connect gap to 89-87 overall and 75-67 power, Parker was able to navigate his way to a slim but deserved decision (116-112 twice, 115-113).

I just finished the Parker/Takam fight, and just finished reading everyone's opinions on it in other threads. Here's my simple honest opinion.....

Joseph Parker... You need to stay in New Zealand for awhile longer and work on that defense and stamina. Don't you dare get in the ring with Anthony Joshua yet. And also, stay as far away from Deontay Wilder as possible.

Could you imagine Wilder vs. that no head movement and dropped guard? Lord help us. We'd see a worse KO than Szpilka's.

I still see potential in Parker, but against the top heavyweights RIGHT NOW... Yikes.

      Takam won I thought.

Parker would get whipped in a round vs Joshua. Dillian Whyte would probably beat him.

Yeah man, wow. Parker definitely has lots of work to do imo. Had he been in there with a guy like Povetkin or something, he'd be dead right now lol.

He's very fortunate Takam was saving his gas until 45 seconds left in each round.
