Vanes Martirosyan and Erislandy Lara have very different opinions of what occurred during their first fight as their rematch nears. Martirosyan thinks he was winning their November 2012 bout, which was scored a technical draw after a cut over Martirosyan's left eye caused referee Jay Nady to stop their scheduled 12-rounder 26 seconds into the ninth round. Martirosyan's cut was caused by an accidental head-butt, which was why the fight went to the scorecards when Martirosyan couldn't continue.

The first fight was close but Lara had clearly started to take over when it was stopped. He actually would have won by majority decision if it wasn't for that absurd WBC rule about head clashes.

I wanna see a better fight and a decisive winner this time.
