Comments Thread For: Roy Jones is Sour On Golovkin-Ramirez Matchup in 2016

Gennady Golovkin has done his part to build towards a mandatory title fight with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, demolishing unbeaten but overmatched challenger Dominic Wade in two rounds Saturday evening in front of a sold-out crowd at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

Its ridiculous. That telecast last night was one of the most disgusting I've seen in a long time, maybe ever. Calling Chocolatito and GGG the consensus P4P 1 and 2. That's bull****. GGG would be an underdog against Ward and Kovalev. Chocolatito would be an underdog against Rigondeaux. I've grown use to Lamply's ******ic commentary when it comes to his favs. But I've never seen him slurp and oversell a guy like he did GGG. It was embarrassing.

I don't really think that these commentators always say what they think, it's good for the broadcast to have to opposing opinions so that they can get a discussion going on.

The broadcast last night was a disgrace to the network.

Nobody would be favored against them in their own weight class. You mentioned fighters bigger than them.

Rigondeaux fights 3 weight classes above gonzalez.
Kovalev fights 2 weight classes above golovkin.

            Gonzalez
            Kovalev
            Ward
            Golovkin
            Canelo

I second what Roy Jones said. Ramirez vs GGG right now makes no sense.

Ramirez just got the belt and while very talented, Ramirez has very little experience. He's not yet ready for this stage yet.

GGG needs to get Canelo, Saunders, or Jacobs in the ring.
Ramirez needs to find more high quality fights to improve his skills and increase his marketability.

Chocolatito rehydrated to 126 last night and he's only an inch shorter than Rigondeaux. There's not a lotta size difference between the two.

As for GGG and potentially fight the two light heavyweight stars. If we were living in another era, middleweight and light heavy were just a division apart. Unfortunately for GGG, Canelo is the only fighter within a division or so that could make a superfight. And it doesn't appear that Canelo plans on fighting him anytime soon. Sometimes you gotta dare to be great. And for GGG, that may mean looking to the light heavyweight division for a superfight dance partner.

Those guys would be underdogs to fighters in higher divisions? No **** Sherlock! You know Ward and Kovalev would be underdogs to Fury and Widler????

I don't agree with those guys being p4p 1 and 2, not consensus anyway but your argument is absolute bs.

Light heavies weigh in at 175,which is 4 lbs more than what golovkin rehydrated to. One thing is daring to be great, and another is giving up a 15-20lb weight advantage.
