Comments Thread For: Nick Blackwell Officially Calls Time on His Ring Career

Trowbridge's Nick Blackwell (19-4-1, 8 KOs) has confirmed that his boxing career is over. The 25-year-old Tweeted the news last night and he also reached out to Chris Eubank Junior, who beat him by 10th-round TKO last month in a fight that left Blackwell in an induced coma due to bleeding on the skull.

        Suprised hes doing this
boxing is his livelihood. If he is medically sound to fight why not fight again? Unless his chances have increased to have brain damage easier next time why not fight again

The only fighters I can think of that have ever fought after a head injury were Czar Amonsot, Jermaine Taylor, Joe Mesi (although he was done at the high level and retired after some easy fights).

Doesn't want to put his family through that, like he said. Must've been a living hell this past month. Who can blame him?

              true
It just be gutting for him to quit
Had no illustrous amateur career or amateur experience at all, fought as a white collar boxer, thrown in with the wolves early career and lost..........he wasnt given anything, he earned every small piece of success he had in the ring.
Now hes hit his physical prime as british champion where hes finally starting to earn good money and recognition and now its all gone.
He seems like a good kid, didnt deserve his dreams which he sacrificed so much for to be ripped away from him like that.
