Comments Thread For: Robert Easter Drills Mendez With Right Hand Bomb

WASHINGTON, D.C. - 25-year old lightweight Robert Easter (17-0, 14 KO), 133, of Toledo, Ohio, danced his way into the ring. He did more than dance once he got there, using a single right hand in round five to level former 130 lb. titlist Algenis Menzdez (23-4-1, 12 KO), 134 , Dominican-born of Brooklyn, New York. Mendez entered having won two straight including a unanimous decision over tricky former lightweight titlist Miguel Vazquez since losing the IBF 130 lb. title to Rances Barthelemy in 2014. It was the first stoppage loss of Mendez's career. The referee was William Johnson.

Dumb fux on here will hate because he fights for Haymon and AB. But Easter was impressive tonight. Loox like he can make some noise in the lightweight division.

Oh my. Poor Verdejo. Did I say Gervonta was even money? Easter takes him.

For as long as he can make LW he will be a serious force to be reckoned with.

Impressive. Not sure how in the hell Easter makes Lightweight with his frame. Not sure how much longer he will be in this division for.

He is ready for sure for a Top 10 fighter in the division. Not sure what guy will be brave enough to take on this young lion.

Easter has a very bright future ahead of him.

Really liking what I'm seeing, though as I've said, his footwork is a mess. Not the worst but he's cutting down so much that moving like that on that frame could result in disaster when he gets caught with clean, hard shots.

The Kid has talent. Says he learned a lot from Broner. For the sake of his career I hope he means he learned a lot of what NOT to do because although I support AB and him as a fighter, he makes some dumb ass decisions out of the ring and sometimes even in it i.e. the Maidana dry hump smh.
