So let's get this straight - Golovkin had an upcoming mandatory, and then he's expected to fight Canelo for a big unification. But what posters are saying is he needs to move up in weight now...for who exactly? Andre Ward is at 175 now and in agreement to fight Kovalev. So what then, Groves maybe? Abraham if he's lucky? DeGale who himself is talking about moving up to 175??

His best move is to stay at 160 and a). attempt to fight Canelo, b). attempt to fight Saunders and/or Danny Jacobs. Once he either gets one of those fights and figures out if Canelo will happen or not, sure go to 168 and fight whoever is the best there (Abraham, Badou Jack and possibly DeGale of he stays...real legacy/big money fights!)

They all bait its part of getting decent video , McCallum was a great fighter and very avoided I understand exactly what he is saying , why do GGG fans get irate when a great fighter is telling the truth .

GGG aint fought anyone yet he is a great prospect and a hell of a good fighter , the best out there at MW right now from a weak bunch and he dont dare challenge himself to be great by moving up to fight better quality opposition where he is no longer the bully .

Canelo is the biggest payday in the sport (besides Manny) & GGG is on his shortlist of opponents & is supposed to be setup for September. You don't move up in weight in this scenario.

I'm a realist, not a GGG apologist. This place can be hilarious with the name calling over an opinion. I got called a Canelo fanboy yesterday cuz I think GGG should meet Canelo at a sub 160 weight cuz Canelo is without question the A side/money guy & I'm getting called a GGG apologist in this thread today cuz I don't see a big fight at 168 thats worth GGG moving up when the biggest fight in the sport is in his current weight division.

Who's talking about Wade? Canelo is arguably the biggest fight to get in the sport. And GGG is in the same division as him & seen as in the top 2 with him. You don't leave a division when you got that lined up. There is no fight that comes close to GGG vs Canelo at 168. Zurdo is nothing even if he beats Abraham. He'll be a young unproven kid who beat an old battle worn guy if he wins. DeGale is still trying to grow into something & he might get there, but the reality is he isn't there yet. And don't get it twisted. I'm not saying that GGG vs DeGale couldn't be an interesting or compelling fight. I'm saying its not a big PPV caliber fight like GGG vs Canelo would be.

exactly, hopkins wasn't undisputed for a lot of those middleweight title defenses.

it was 3 other belts floating around and he held the ibf title like 6 years before facing another title holder

He has a record for IBF title defenses but not middleweight champion defenses....Monzon was the man off jump....Hopkins fought no names and washed up welterweights for years until the late 90s and early 2000s and the tournament
