the problem is you have no idea how the boxing business works.

haymon is able to attempt what he's attempting because he signed so many fighters and has the exclusive right to approve matches on their behalf.

how is someone supposed to launch this "world series of boxing" with any notable fighters when all of the notable fighters are locked up contractually?

    use some common sense.

It isn't meant to replace the normal system, it would just be complimentary, exhibition-esque, like Wrestlemania is to WWE.

I think it's feasible. In futbol, marqee players have the opportunity to play for local cups, seleccion events (national team), and true exhibitions from time to time.

It isn't a "one or the other" suggestion, it's just meant to be a draw and a fun event when it comes around, it could boost marketing, and we would see fights we otherwise would not.

but why would the current powers that be allow it?

that is the biggest flaw in your plan.

the fighters are under contract to various parties with conflicting interests.

it's not even worth wasting a breath on. it'll never happen.

The answer is always the same: profit. If you fail to see the opportunity to make a profit then the discussion ends there.

With any investment opportunity comes risk, measuring risk and assuming a calculated risk is an inherent part of the process.

I think it would be difficult to gain traction, but I think if it does catch traction it could be a huge success.

Again I point to the history of Wrestlemania as an example. Obviously the governing bodies would have to come to an agreement, and obviously that in itself is a tall task, as is evidenced by the difficulty in making fights that should happen indeed happen, but just like the cold war of boxing which is already over essentially, I have faith the boxing landscape will improve for the better.

I guess not many people were into it, but I really got into the BWS, and I can only imagine how much more heated and entertaining it would be with pros who already fight at a higher level, already have fanbases and rivalries, and with the incentive to represent your nation which you don't always see in normal fights/cards (and thank goodness as I am anti-nationalism when it comes to boxing).

PBC proves my point. Its nearly dead, no shows so far this year at all and haymon is letting his fighter go wherever because he cant get them those big paydays anymore

Makes sense. A medal like the Olympics. I like it.

                    I liked the Wrestlemania idea

Have 1 entity like PBC , HBo hold one big PPV event anually and put like 4-6 big fights on the same card. That would be sick

This idea doesn't make sense to me and seems like Loaded Wraps maybe had 1 too many bong hits this afternoon.
