Comments Thread For: Algieri Can't See Khan Pulling Off An Upset Against Canelo

Chris Algieri understands Amir Khan's decision to challenge Canelo Alvarez.

Algieri doesn't think, though, that Khan can pull off an upset in their WBC middleweight title fight May 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Khan (31-3, 19 KOs), who defeated Algieri by unanimous decision 9 months ago at Barclays Center, is about a 3-1 underdog against Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs).

He still thinks he beat Khan, I like Chris; he's a smart and likeable guy but no need to bitter.

I had this dream last night that Algieri knocked out Spence and then jumped out of the ring, grabbed Floyd and chocked him in to submission

It was the greatest thing i'd ever seen

A great scenario would be if Algieri beat Spence and then defeats Kell in England and takes his belt setting up a rematch with King. Damn!

The downside, though, is that if Khan wins that rematch, it'll just be yet another possible reason he won't fight Kell. "Why should I fight Brook? I beat the guy who beat him. Twice!"

Not to downplay your scenario. It's a decent one

                  I have my fingers crossed

Although imagine if Spence looks like a beast against Algieri, will Kell still be up for the fight? or will he drop the belt and move up in weight

                    I had Khan v Algieri a draw.

Khan actually looked very sluggish in that fight compared to usual, he didn't seem sharp at all. He is young in age for a boxer still but don't forget he turned pro very young, he's had an 11 or 12 year pro career now, he probably doesn't have much of a prime left. I personally felt his prime was around the time of the Maidana fight or around the time he fought Paulie and Judah. Some fighters have a younger prime than others. He's hardly looked exceptional since the loss to Garcia has he.

With that said, if Khan is still prime and can be very sharp against Canelo, i can see how he wins. it would have to be the perfect gameplan, perfectly executed. Any mistake in this fight and it's going to be goodnight for Khan.

Sadly for Khan, i don't think he has the ring IQ to go 12 rounds without taking shots from Canelo and getting dragged into a fight.
