Comments Thread For: Forget retirement, Pacquiao-Crawford is a fight that needs making

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Terence Crawford has officially reached the level Frank Sinatra used to sing about.

He's made it there. And now it appears he might make it anywhere.

The amiable Nebraskan took his Midwestern act to midtown Manhattan on Saturday night and emerged one step closer to superstardom after a fifth-round TKO of rugged Philadelphian Hank Lundy in defense No. 2 of the WBO share of the 140-pound title he won 10 months ago.

Crawford is the real deal. If Pac keeps fighting...why not. But if its not in his heart anymore. Saty w]away from Crawford. Because he will whoop Mannys ass if Manny isnt 100%.

Yeap. I think the old legends shouldn't retire until a new star beat them. This is the way a new star can born. This is how Oscar gave the fame to Floyd and Pac. And now this is Manny's turn.

We can see how illegitimate the next generation can be without this. Lennox Lewis's retirement before the lose to the Klitschkos hurt the whole heavyweight badly.

Boxing really needs this Pacquiao-Crawford fight.

It is very clear what juan manuel marquez said last week. In his level.. Fighting crawford you can get nothing because his not in a level like marquez and pacquiao you can't sell that guy on a ppv. There is nothing to prove for pacquiao he is a senator. This is his farewell fight. Fighting crawford is a nonsense. And this is a last fight for pacquiao in toprank contract. If pacquiao fight again this is for mayweather and mp promotion not toprank.

It's easy to say that in theory.

In reality, if Pac doesn't look right against Bradley then he should not hang around. There's no need to be taking losses to guys you would have obliterated in your prime.

Beating Pac at this stage won't do much. Mayweather holds the torch but nobody is good enough to take it.

So these dudes need to step up and create their own lanes instead of trying to make names of another man's accomplishments.

Why is everyone making this so complicated. Postol/Crawford at 140. Then we can discuss all the other stuff.

I don't remember Fitzsimmons calling for Mayweather to fight an undefeated new face in boxing as his swan song. Maybe he's saying this about Pacquiao because Roach opened his big mouth about it.

there's a reason why pacquiao picked a useless third fight with bradley.

he knows he would get beat by crawford.

but if floyd comes back and takes on danny garcia, the equivalent action manny has to take is to fight crawford for the rematch vs floyd to regain credibility in a lot of people's eyes.
