How far exactly was Tyson from his prime when he fought Lewis in 2002?

I offer that while Holyfield may have still beaten him, a young Lewis couldn't hang with a young Tyson & Williams wouldn't have even gotten in the ring with him. You say that you like Mike, but you won't admit that for a minute, he was a bad motherfucker.
    PS: "Uneducating"?
Lewis is regarded by educated folk as one of the top 3 heavyweights of all time now...he proved it...his resume proves....he won the world title 3 times...beat fighters who Tyson struggled with ease....Olympic heavyweight champion ...retired undisputed champion......Tyson was great but nowhere near as great as Lewis .....his fight record proves it son

Just stating facts..Lewis toyed with him....in fact there use to be clip on YouTube after Lewis koed him and Tyson was talking in his dressing with his baby in his arms saying he could never have beaten Lewis....look I like Tyson and I like him even more now with his honesty and respect he shows ....but he could never have beaten Lewis.....and that's the way it is...stop being a fan boy with pictures of your idol....that's a sign

Absolutely. Maybe even 13 years. One thing for sure is Tyson was 100% removed from prime.

The pre-Steward Lewis gets destroyed by Rooney trained Tyson. Look at the McCall fight and how easily McCall countered every jab Lewis threw. Countering the jab was the young Tyson's bread and butter.

Finally! Someone who understands and will admit that prime Tyson was a monster, and pre-Steward Lewis didn't know how to use his height or protect his suspect chin. Green k!

Here's the thing, I never disputed Lewis' greatness. My point is that prime Tyson had the edge over prime Lewis. He was further developed and focused, & he was a vicious animal by his own admission. When Mike lost his focus, he lost his edge.

Tyson was done. He had been living off his name since he came out of jail in 1995. The heavyweight division was just starting to go downhill at the time and he benefited from the lack of big name fighters for Lewis. They had a plan to build that fight. Gave Tyson a few soft touches to build him up. He hadn't been a prime fighter since well before the Douglass fight, probably the Ruddock fight.
Having said all that there was a moment in the first round where I though maybe Iron Mike was coming to win this thing. But then Lewis found his timing and it was all over.

Exactly how did he have edge over LEWIS when he never faced anybody as good as LEWIS.....kind of ****** what your saying isn't it......go back to the history of LEWIS and tyson and when they sparred and your see LEWIS controlled the sessions after 1 round.......no fighter tyson had fought before he went to prison was the caliber of a lennox Lewis ....it's just facts, now you like tyson and that's your preference but on every level LEWIS surpassed tyson .....tysons legacy will always be taking a loss against the top noses on his resume

The basis of your argument is when they sparred each other as amateurs, their resume's and when Mike was way past it. You know Tyson was the most feared man in boxing in his prime. Sure, he peaked and fizzled out rather quickly, but at his peak, he was a bad man, period.

He was a bad man against mediocre fighters that's it......no more and he has no victory over an in prime ATG heavyweight and you basing your views on Tyson beating tomatoe cans means nothing.....a short prime and resume fed with low rate heavyweights....we can all knock bums over or old Larry Holmes...you talk about Tyson being past it.....he was 23 when he lost to Douglas ..he just met his match ..that's it...Ray Leonard was way from the ring for over 3 years and was on Coke and alcohol..Tyson was shown to be without ideas even when he faced Tucker or bonecrusher.....I told you before anybody can look good against cans which Tyson did.......resumes are built on who they beat and how they beat them....Tyson 2 notable wins were a light heavyweight Michael spinks and an old Larry Holmes that's it....he couldn't get inside the defence of Tucker,Mitch green, tillis or bonecrusher and they were cans compared with Lewis ...or don't you remember those fights.....Lewis beats Tyson every time....to big..to clever
