  • Comments Thread For: Vargas-Salido Clash Nearly Done For June 4 At StubHub Center

A mouth watering clash between Mexican countrymen Francisco Vargas and Orlando Salido has been in high demand from the moment it was first suggested. It now stands just a couple of minor details away from becoming a reality.

Talks have accelerated from conception to nearing finalization, now carrying a placeholder of June 4 at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., according to Sean Gibbons of Zanfer Promotions.

“We are closing in on finalizing the Fight of the Year candidate between Francisco Vargas and Orlando Salido,” Gibbons told BoxingScene.com.

Zanfer is such an underrated promotional company, they are always putting together good fights and exciting cards.

Vargas vs Salido should be an exciting firefight for as long as it may last. I know Vargas will pull through but you can never put anything past Salido, that man has heart and will power for days. I can't wait, I hope they give us another exciting fight on the undercard as well.

I don't understand why hbo waste dates with fights like this and vargas vs ali.

Those are great fights, but both fights would be better on the pacquiao vs bradley and canelo vs khan ppv undercard.

Hbo is always saying they spent up all the budget, and this is why. Wasting dates and money on fights that they shouldn't be.

If you have a limited budget. Use the budget on bigger fights.

Wow....this fight is better than the ppv's coming up as a boxing fight and warriors is concerned. Its cool you can watch that horrible santa cruz vs martinez bs fight on shotime

                Shocked

I'm shocked that HBO is going to let Vargas headline his first main event on their network. I love the fight but I'm just surprised that they are giving Vargas that much love.

Vargas vs Miura was a great fight and fight of the year. But I figured this fight was going to be a undercard fight on the Khan vs Canelo card.

Otherwise props to both guys for taking this fight. Hopefully Oscar puts on a strong undercard. Wouldn't be surprised if Slava or Jo Jo Diaz are the co main event fight for this event. Assuming Jo Jo looks impressive next month.

Vargas finally has the stage to himself to showcase his skills and abilities. I look forward to seeing this potential fight of the year.

This should be a unification fight, but there's an unwritten rule with the WBO that you have to kill that Alien-looking **** to get a win over him.

Vargas vs Salido is a good fight. But it should be a undercard fight. Not a main event.

So at the end of the year when HBO says they don't have much left in the budget, this fight and ortiz vs tba will be the reason.

Hbo has already cut back on the number of dates, you would think less dates mean bigger fights. But instead this is what we get. Again vargas vs Salido is a good fight, but it's not a fight that I will circle on my calendar.

I miss the days of mosley vs margarito, winky vs taylor, Martinez vs williams, Hopkins vs calzaghe, Vitali vs lewis, marquez vs diaz

Fights that could have been ppv, but we're instead televised by hbo.

No thank you on ortiz vs thompson and vargas vs Salido.

                    Waste of premium dates
