Comments Thread For: Chavez, Barrera, Morales View Canelo-GGG as The Next 'Big One'

Mexican legends Julio Cesar Chavez, Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera don't always agree, but the three of them view Saul 'Canelo Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs) vs. Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) as the 'biggest fight in boxing.'

I agree with them. With no Pacquiao or Mayweather, this is the biggest fight.

HBO would be making a huge statement if they could air GGG vs. Canelo, and Kovalev vs. Ward in 2016! Those are the two mega fights for 2016! (Loma vs. Rigo or Walters could be the cherry on top!) I think Canelo drops the belt after the Khan fight, and then the two sides negotiate a catch weight fight for Mexican Independence Day Weekend.

Nop Cotto vs Canelo was the biggest behind May-Pac.

I'm actually starting to think it Canelo v GGG will happen this year. I hope so. Clearly it has marinated long enough, and with a rematch clause it would be an awesome series.

All three of those Mexican greats I am a huge fan of, but sorry to say it is just wishful thinking with those statements. I can understand them all wanting their countryman to win that fight, but I think they know in their hearts what will happen.
