Comments Thread For: McGuigan: Khan is Very Ballsy, Canelo Walks Around at 200

Former world champion Barry McGuigan, who now manages fighters like IBF world champion Carl Frampton, says Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) is taking a very dangerous step by moving up in weight to challenge Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KO) for the WBC middleweight world title at a catch-weight of 155-pounds.

Ricky Hatton was walking around over 200, it's only weight on a fight night that matters.

I disagree with the Hatton comparison; Hatton walked around at that weight because of excessive drinking and eating. Canelo doesn't balloon up like that. If Canelo's 200, it's because of his body being, naturally, that heavy. That's a whole different phenomenon altogether.

Well, on fight night, Canelo will be around 170lbs, still huge compared to what Khan would come in the ring at. If you thought Cotto-Canelo looked like 2 different weight classes in the ring, wait until you see this.

Khan sounds detached from reality when he comes to his conclusions for this fight.

Khan knows he could be at/near the end of his career anyway. There's a chance he's lost some/much of the speed he had in his youth, on top of not actually being what he was hyped to be.

Why is he repeatedly the recipient of the "lucky punch"? At 30(or close to it), this wasn't the way his career was to work out.

He's taking his "big fight" while he can.

And yes, now he will have that excuse(blowing up/draining) the next time a natural welter, or smaller, puts him on his butt and/or ko's his azz.

I don't believe canelo blows up to 200lbs between fights...190 maybe but I think he has the sort of metabolism that he has to watch his weight even between fights and because of his stocky build he can fill out quite quickly and gain the pounds......I know duran was a beast for blowing up to 190lbs but we also had proof of his partying and wild binges....I don't see many headlines of canelo in late night parties getting drunk and street fights or ******* fuelled cross dressing nights like Oscar...canelo walks around at 190Ibs I reckon ....and then drains himself down to 155lbs only to regain another 20lbs on fight night 24hrs later..Khan is gonna be in trouble because he has no strength at weltwerweight or punch let alone middleweight..gets involved to much in toe to toe exchanges and takes far to much punishment when he enters the kill zone ....Khan doesn't have the disclpline or the skill to avoid canelos well placed punches and khan will hit the deck really hard.......when Khan feels canelos power watch khans face change......

              War golovkin.

I totally believes he walks around at 200 during long layoffs in between fights

If that makes Khan 'ballsy', what does that say about Canelo?
