Comments Thread For: David Lemieux's Manager Wants Canelo, Jacobs and Saunders

David Lemieux is coming off a loss to a fighter seen as the best middleweight around and perhaps one of the best in the sport today, Gennady Golovkin. But even after that third defeat on Lemieux’s record, his manager thinks the 27-year-old former titleholder can aim for another shot at a belt.

But first comes a March 12 fight in Montreal against James De la Rosa.

Lemieux/Jacobs would be explosive, even after Lemieux gets his HBO fight out of the way in May/June, GB still has a $200mill lawsuit going on against Haymon.

Lemieux needs a few wins before even thinking about those guys. De La Rosa wont cut it!

            Dave,

In your article, you mentioned HBO won't let Haymon fighters fight their guys (paraphrasing). My questions are:

            1. How are the current negotiations with GGG-Wade (Haymon fighter)?

            2. Why was HBO ok with Kovalev-Beterbiev (Haymon fighter)?

            3. How is GGG considering DeGale (Haymon fighter) as a next opponent?

            4. Why did HBO approve Stevenson - Kovalev only for Duva to pull out because she couldn't have it her way?

            5. What's Peter Nelson's take on all this?

            6. What was stopping Loeffler from initiating negotiations with Jacobs after they found out BJS and Johnson wouldn't fight?

Can you write an unbiased article covering in depth rationale's from both camps regarding the above?

I know it's alot to ask, but there's so many unanswered questions that we the fans have which end up with a bunch of guys biasedly pointing the finger at the adversarial camps. We need ethical, professional, unbiased and detailed journalism in this age of continuous Cold War's in boxing.

I think HBO will allow a Haymon guy in the right circumstance. Like with Golovkin they are fresh out of options and Golovkin has to do this mandatory or vacate his belt. Or when Andre Ward was allowed to fight Edwin Rodriguez because they had no opponents for Ward. HBO will do the fight when their guy is the A-side and likely favorite to win.
