Comments Thread For: Atlas Hits Back at Freddie Roach Over "Cheerleader" Comment

For the last few weeks, Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach has been taking shots at Teddy Atlas.

After parting ways with career-trainer Joel Diaz last September, two-division world champion Timothy Bradley hired Atlas to run his corner.

Who exactly has Teddy Atlas ever developed and trained

Teddy Atlas basically has never trained and developed one fighter-ever. Teddy talks and brags and pats himself on the back but in essence Atlas has never really had any fighters of note. Mike Moorer for a few fights? Povetkin trained for a bit? Now Teddy wants to train Bradley?? What a hoot. Atlas is all hot air and rectum gas who has done little as far as a trainer. Freddy Roach has a track record of developing fighters and teaching them how to fight. Teddy ME Atlas has done little but announce and brag. No Results.

teddy atlas answered that question or responded to roach "cheerleader" statement the best possible wya he could have and made some valid points in doing so.

I still think atlas is vastly over rated as a trainer.

i think roach could have done a better job in the cotto fight, his instructions were petty pointless and that marvin dude looks useless.
hope he does a better job with pacquiao because bradley is a tough opponent for him. sad to see these same fights again tho.

Teddy makes a valid point, maybe Pac didnt need a cheerleader, but he could have used the truth. I recall Roach telling Toney he was blowing it before the last round of the Jirov fight, maybe he should have said that to Pac as well.

My perfect outcome for this fight would be for Teddy to have Tim Bradley execute some Cus D'Amato techniques and knock Pacquiao out.

Maybe that would shut Freddie Roach up for once.

The mental aspect of boxing is huge.

              All combat sport.

The old-school trainers are usually mentors as well.

They understand the mentality of their fighter.

Look at the job D'Amato did with a young volatile Tyson.

Not convinced about him as a trainer, just referring to his corner-work here..... Robert Garcia is one of the very best cornermen in the game today.

I like his instructional/motivational work, he is usually very good at breaking down what is unfolding.

Teddy is a motivator and a good trainer in the gym. He was Mike Tyson trainer under Cus's eye and direction. Teddy personal handled Tyson in the gym and in his corner as Tyson was brought along. I worked corners with Teddy for Tyson in the Junior Olympic Nationals and their preparation was detailed and understood by them. They had a plan for each fight and were ready for the challenges.
Atlas is a good motivator and is good at breaking down an opponents flaws.
He will have a good plan against Manny and it won't consist of things Tim can't accomplish!
Atlas himself was trained by Cus when he was a young amateur boxer.
Teddy is just hard to take at times, there's no use in analyzing his actions
we'll see what they come up with to keep Manny from performing well.

All Teddy had to say was "Manny, Cotto."

So they looked goofy on camera for a minute in the heat of the action.

They obviously get along well and there was alot of instruction that seemed to be well followed in amongst the "cheerleading".

Will it work well enough for Tim to finally beat Manny?

I dunno', but I'll be rooting for Camp Bradley.

Fk Roach and his hipster glasses.
