  • Comments Thread For: Povetkin's Promoter Not Impressed With Wilder's Win

Andrei Ryabinski, promoter of Olympic gold medal winner Alexander Povetkin, sat ringside on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and watched WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (36-0, 35 KOs) retain his world title with a ninth round knockout of Artur Szpilka (20-2, 15 KOs).

So in other words, he did not like Spitzka's westernized clowning tactics in the ring.

After Wilder ices Povetkin he'll go back to being a bum. As far as NSB goes.

TBH Potvekin is nothing special to me. However neither is Wilder.

I imagine a Tyson bob and weaving and Ko'ing every fighter today. None have the style, physique and ringmanship as say a Holyfield to neutralise a Mike

You are full of ****. The majority of people hating on Wilder is because of his competition, claiming he's the real heavyweight champion/best heavyweight champion, and how he struggles against these lower level fighters. I'll give Wilder props for winning, but he was down on the scorecards prior to the KO. I definitely still hold Povetkin as the favorite if they did fight right now by a slightly margin. If Wilder beats him? I'll acknowledge Wilder as a top 4 heavyweight in the world right now (alongside Klitschko, Fury, and Luis Ortiz). But until then, he's around 6th or so for me.

I wonder how much money Ryabinski can honestly put up for this fight with the Russian economy in tatters and the price of oil continuing to nosedive.

Wilder was ahead on all 3 judges cards + Farhoods. When everything else fails make sh.it up. The NSB way.

Sorry, I didn't mean the judges score cards. I'm referring to my own scoring of the fight/as well as other's on reddit on the fight. Szpilka was up two rounds IMO, or it was a lot closer than Wilder by UD. There was no way Wilder should have been ahead on all three cards, but then again, the same bull**** people complain about fighting in Russia due to judging happens here in the U.S. Herp derp, let's show only Wilder highlights.

Not like this doesn't happen all the time, don't act like it doesn't. Canelo vs Lara, Pascal vs Gonzalez, etc.

Ding ding ding ding ding. People clowned Kathy Duva when she used this excuse as a reason she couldn't get a Russian to put up a purse bid but she was telling the truth. Huck said Ryabinski has gotten cheap last year and he could make more money fighting in America than in Russia against Lebdev. Aint no point in winning a purse bid if people can't afford to go to the fight.
