Comments Thread For: Wilder Won’t Go To Russia For Mandatory Versus Povetkin

NEW YORK – Deontay Wilder expects to make a mandatory defense against Alexander Povetkin in his next fight.

The WBC heavyweight champion from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, has no intention, though, of traveling to Russia to oppose Povetkin.

Deontay creating alibis already. Sounds like those two voluntary defenses were only about buying time. All signs point to Deontay ducking Povetkin and blaming it on Russian cold when Team Povetkin wins the purse bid. Shameful.

Pretty sure New York is good neutral ground, I am sure the crowd would slant toward Povetkin.

If the Russians win the purse bid, he'll have no choice but fight in Russia.

That said, Team Povetkin have already said that they're willing to come to USA so the venue shouldn't be an issue.

Well, U.S it is. Now to see if Wilder can beat Povetkin in better style than Klitzcho did.
