Comments Thread For: Roman Martinez's Promoter Protests Berchelt Purse Bid/Defense

PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) was not involved and challenges this afternoon's purse bid held by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) for a fight between the World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior lightweight champion, Roman "Rocky" Martinez against the first ranked Miguel "El Alacran" Berchelt.

The WBO appears to be criminally sabotaging boxers associated with Al Haymon.

They stripped Mayweather immediately after the Pacquiao fight, removed Austin Trout from his mandatory position before ordering a fight for the vacant 154 lb. title, and now they have ordered a mandatory for a fighter that has never fought a WBO-ranked 130 lb. fighter.

I would like to hear what a federal judge thinks about these actions.

The Haymon victim mentality is a thing now? Not the only pro-Haymon poster to try

The WBO did Trout wrong. No doubt. This scenario seems absurb but I won't pretend to know the entire details of it.

Mayweather didn't pay his sanction fee nor drop his titles at 154 (which hadnt defended in years)... he had time to respond to it, he just didn't do so.

Maybe Haymon fighters should stick with the WBA, who have shown an equal amount of 'criminal' leniency towards Haymon fighters - recently Broner and Santa Cruz/Mares. They don't seem to be faring too badly with the WBC either.. look at Wilder. Sanctioning bodies often have mutually beneficial ties with promoters, and TR seem to like the WBO, as Haymon seems to like the WBA..

Berchelt's a very protected guy in the Merida area & I believe he's only beaten 1 ranked guy, Flores from Nicaragua more than 3 years ago...no way he deserves a shot or #1...WBO most crooked of the bodies but good for Martinez's peeps 4 avoiding the trap...
