In what is becoming a strange trend given present legal matter, former bedfellows Al Haymon and Golden Boy Promotions are once again obligated to do business together.

On the heels of finalizing terms for a World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight title fight between Jorge Linares and Dejan Zlaticanin, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) has now named resurgent featherweight contender Eric Hunter as the mandatory challenger for reigning titlist Lee Selby.

Yeah 130 is starting to become an interesting division. If someone can convince Gamboa to drop the extra 5lbs and tell Selby to move up we'll have an all-star division talent wise. Throw in Loma for good measures.

Well Gamboa fought at 131 and 133 his last couple fights and there were rumors of him fighting Vargas so I think he does plan on fighting at 130.


With Uchiyama, Vargas, Fortuna, Walters, Pedraza, Salido/Martinez, and Gamboa fighting at 130 I'd say that division is stacked!

I've seen Hunter fight once, and he's pretty decent. It could turn out to be a tough night for Selby.

Hunter should study the Montel fight. If he can capitalize off anything that worked for Montiel he'll have a good chance of pulling off the upset.

This should be a very interesting negotiation seeing that Eric Hunter is with Golden Boy while Selby is with Al Haymon.

Don't be deceived by Hunters record he got DQ'd twice in the past and if I'm correct he was winning both fights.

He would give Selby a good quality fight. I hope this gets made but I wouldn't be surprised if something unexpected goes on with the making of this fight.
