Kovalev has a better chance than Golovkin he is bigger and stronger. That will be quite a test for SOG but I'm confident he can pass it with flying colors.

Golovkin's a better technical fighter than the punchers that Ward has fought. I can see a lot of 50/50 rounds between them, with GGG being the aggressor but getting caught with Ward's potshots, yet still cornering Ward often enough and putting a beating on him a few times each round.
I think he beats both. At one point I wasn't sure about Kovalev but after watching rnd 6 against Kovalev vs Pascal I think Ward schools him. Ward skill set is way better than Pascal as well as height and power. I think he easily beats GGG. Though I think GGG is a beast, I don't think he would be able over power Ward. You guys always talk about aggression but what you fans keep failing to realize is when you fight guys like Rigo, Ward, and Floyd you don't fight them with aggression because that will get you KO'd! Ward would negate their power with his style, like most have been saying.

Tom Loeffler, HBO, and the K2 matchmakers..... were correct in avoiding Andre Ward, and I don't really have a problem with it, because I understand why.
Ward actually has a contract with HBO.

posts like this make me wonder what some people are watching. you will get held not ko'd against floyd and ward. that's illegal. calling cheating defense is flat out garbage. how about if kovalev and ggg throw a golota combo to their opponents balls is that just good offense?

Ummm, Ward has proven that his skills are "off the charts", many times.

I don't see that same level of skill from Golovkin, nor from Kovalev.

Both are excellent, but even Canelo looks more skilled than Golovkin, and Kovalev used a very basic-but-effective gameplan against old-man Hopkins.
Golovkin got skill, most people just get stuck on his power punching without seeing the subtle things he does.

in a foul free fight i am confident GGG beats ward, but otherwise i think wards takes it in a close decision.

Kovalev vs Ward will be a hell of a fight! Kovalev is a good fighter with crazy power and Ward is a tactician with excellent skills. I hope the fight happens this year and GGG fights Canelo as well. We could have a great second half of 2016.

Fight is probably a pipe dream at this point, being that they're 15lbs away from the other and Ward couldn't get lower than 172 in his last bout. Not that I think either were particularly keen to get into the ring with one another anyway.
Yes, the referee will be crucial.

I admire good inside fighters but Ward's game is based more on "clinch/hold-and-hit" type tactics rather than real inside punching.

He has also been given too much leeway on the use of his head in past fights.

Kovalev in particular will be a real challenge for Ward as Andre will not enjoy his usual size and strength advantages that suit his style. I am tempted to predict he will not go through with that fight.
