  • Comments Thread For: Randy Caballero Eager To Capture a World Title at 122

Randy Caballero is very eager to bounce back after failing to make weight for what was scheduled to be his first defense of the IBF bantamweight world title last November on the Miguel Cotto-Saul Alvarez undercard in Las Vegas.

The undefeated boxer was 5.5-pounds over the division limit of 118 for his mandatory bout against Lee Haskins of the UK.

That was his second chance to defend his title if I remember right.

He got injured and pulled out from his first title defense in Feburary, then this happened.

It was funny actually because I was in Vegas for Cotto/Canelo and I was planning on betting on Haskins against him.

I figured he had the ring rust from not fighting, coming off an injury so he wouldn't be 100%, and plus it was his first title defense, and against someone Golden Boy doesn't promote.

Haskins was a pretty good underdog so if the fight happened I would have won some money I'm sure.

    Then Caballero missed weight.

      2nd Chance

Randy blew a major opportunity when he failed to make weight on a major pay per view card. He should have been allowed to make a voluntary defense before his mandatory in my opinion since he had such a long lay off.

Moving up weight is probably a very smart move. It wouldn't surprise me if he gets a title chance by the summer if not by the end of 2016.

This guy has major ability. Hopefully he makes a huge statement in 2016.

A lot of intriguing matchups for Randy such as Manuel Avila, Rey Vargas, Jessie Magdaleno, Donaire, and Quigg
