Comments Thread For: Thurman on Mayweather, Aiming To Be Welterweight Top Dog

WBA welterweight world champion Keith 'One Time' Thurman (26-0, 22KOs) is focused on sticking around in the welterweight division for a very long time. He wants to emulate, or come close, to the dominance that Floyd Mayweather Jr. had in the division.

Thurman had a big year with two network debut headliners. He topped the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) debut show on NBC with a win over Robert Guerrero and then headlined the PBC debut on ESPN with a knockout of Luis Collazo.

He's not that good, but that's a great attitude to have. I feel like Thurman is one of the few fighters at welterweight willing to prove himself in the ring right now. It's him, Porter, and Bradley, basically.

Every fighter has been saying the same **** over the years. I got the remedy, I can beat him, I'm stronger and faster.

Blah blah blah, Thurman will just be another number if Floyd Mayweather, Jr comes out of retirement.

Guys, this article isn't nearly as much about Thurman wanting to fight Mayweather as it is about Thurman wanting to replicate Mayweather's success and his belief in his ability to do so. It's a great thing to hear from a fighter. Chill out.

                Really ?

So, the Porter fight is signed then ?

And after that, who nexx..... Brook or Bradley ?

OK, scratch Bradley, he admitted he will likely never fight the top welters.

Bradley will do the Vargas/Provo/Alvarado, and maybe Crawford, circuit.

So, after Porter, who nexx..... Brook or Khan, and who else rounds out 2016 ?

Or, is that just the same old blah blah, that we hear from everyone lately?

So you've seen floyd get hit but can't remember seeing him retaliate? ?????? Are you serious? You must be a sincere floyd hater to post that nonsense.

Or you could stop the hate and just give some examples of "The Lion coming out" unless youre gonna pull out something from at least 7 years ago where he had an easy safe target like hatton
