Former undisputed cruiserweight and heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield is happy to see the heavyweight division bouncing back and creating noise in the last twelve months.

Holyfield watched the decline of the heavyweight division after fighters like himself, Lennox Lewis, David Tua, Mike Tyson, Chris Byrd, Rid**** Bowe and several others walked away.

Klitschko had a good amateur-background as well but he still couldnt do adjustments against Fury. having a good amateur-background has nothing to do with making adjustments. Jennings does a impressive job for a guy without amateur-background.
And if he continues to work hard his prime is yet to come.

I'd like to see Jennings do well also, Im not American, but he seems like a good guy...he doesn't have much pro experience, but if they bring him back cleverly he could still be a good contender

Jennings is garbage, no knockout power, this is HW not Runweather welterweight. Too 10 HW is all he'll ever be. He'll go below that though. And no Holyfield the HW division is sad. You have guys like Wilder that just want to hold on to one title and fight bums. Then you have real HW like Fury who gets stripped before his first defense. But yet Wilder fought a guy in the top 400 his first defense. It's like the 80's minus the Tyson to come unify all the belts.

Jennings might be garbage but he went the distance with Klitschko.

The fact that Ortiz was able to stop him gives us hope for the future of the division. He is an older boxer but might be able to hold down the fort until Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker take over.

Heavyweight Division is Gaining Steam

The heavyweight division is finally starting to rise from the ashes and getting boxing fans excited for this division again. However it might be difficult to get certain matches made.

But with Fury getting the upset last month, and with Wilder continuing his growth, and the rise of Ortiz, Parker, and Joshua. These guys are gaining major popularity and will start getting major backing from networks. I just hope the promoters for all these guys can work together to make good heavyweight fights next year.

How is Jennings garbage? He would be a handful for many of these guys to deal with. I like Ortiz though he is very versatile, I would like to see him against Wilder, that would be an explosion.

Jennings went the distance with an old Klitschko that needs to retire. Fury proved that, Jennings wasn't good enough to prove it. Wilder will never fight Ortiz. He only fights bums that have no chance. That being said Wilder will probably fight Jennings in April or May seeing how the WBC won't force him to fight a ranked contender. Jennings out of top ten now with two straight loses, I'm sure that makes Wilders eyes light up

The first time I ever saw Ortiz fight professionally I knew he would be a solid heavyweight contender.

Glad I was proven right when he KO'd Jennings. Some people were saying Jennings would win, but I was expecting an easy UD (not a KO, though!).


Now we know why Stiverne ducked Ortiz.
